What are you working on right now?
SIS Counseling offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a type of talk therapy, to help reduce the symptoms of various mental health conditions, primarily depression and anxiety. I help you retrain your brain to think in a different way. I also like to walk-and-talk on the Beltline to infuse our sessions with the benefits of fresh air and exercise.
Who is your ideal client?
I provide counseling to teens and women of all races, ethnicities, abilities, expressions, and sexual orientation.
What is a common misconception about your industry?
I think a lot of us have fears around mental health counseling because it may be difficult to uncover our feelings and make a change. Many of us may feel judged and often there is an economic barrier.
What is a big picture for your business?
I would love to grow my practice and bring on other therapists. I would also like to offer more groups as well as therapeutic outdoor wellness camps for young girls.
What is your superpower?
I am good listener!
What is your favorite productivity tool?
Most therapists don’t take insurance. I use Headway, an online platform, that works with your insurance company to easily provide access to your mental health benefits. It saves me a lot of time and I can focus on caring for my clients.
What book should every entrepreneur read?
I LOVE Life’s Journeys According to Mister Rogers, Things to Remember Along the Way by Fred Rogers
Why Alkaloid?
I love Alkaloid because being a solo practitioner can be lonely. I have so many wonderful people outside of my practice that I get to see every day!
What is your favorite perk at Alkaloid?
I love the treats and the commitment to making the space comfortable for all. Being on the Eastside Beltline is awesome too!
