Each month, we are delighted to introduce you to one of the members of the Alkaloid Networks community, a coworking space on the Eastside Atlanta Beltline. This month we spoke with Jay Blanco from Yanover Painting and Remodeling.
What are you working on right now?
Yanover Painting and Remodeling is currently painting a residential home with exterior mineral-based paint.
What are the benefits of this type of paint?
What makes silicate mineral paint so special, compared to conventional paint coatings, is its ability to not just coat a surface, but to permanently bond the coat of paint. This bond results in a longer lasting coating that is breathable, noncombustible, and water resistant.
Who is your ideal client?
Our target audience is homeowners and commercial projects in need of renovation and painting services.
What is a common misconception about your industry or work?
It’s a common misconception about the painting industry that it’s always a better option to go with a cheaper company to save money. Going with a cheaper option can sometimes cost you more down the line.
What is your big picture vision for your business?
We want to grow the company to be successful and eventually being one of the top painting companies in the state of Georgia.
What book should everybody read?
How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
What is your superpower?
Public speaking!
What is your favorite business or productivity tool?
I have 4 favorites:
Why Alkaloid?
First, the location was fabulous. I wanted a place that employees would enjoy being at. Being on the Atlanta Beltline and having access to places like Krog Street Market is a huge plus. Second, when I came for a tour with Katharine, the Community Manager and Founder, I knew immediately that this coworking space was personally caring and involved positively.
What is your favorite amenity at Alkaloid?
The conference rooms are very convenient!
What advice would you give someone considering coworking?
You have to be open to meeting new people and sharing business ideas! You never know what you’ll learn from people around you also starting a business.
