Each month, we are delighted to introduce you to one of the members of Alkaloid Networks, a coworking space on the Eastside Atlanta Beltline.
We first profiled Matt B. Davis, co-founder of Obstacle Racing Media, 3 years ago. Matt took a break from the Alkaloid community and recently returned so we naturally wanted to get an update.
What has changed for Obstacle Racing Media in the past three years?
When we started, the company was just a podcast a week and articles on the website. We have put much more focus on podcasts, videos, and our social channels.
What is a common misconception about your industry?
That running in the mud is a fad and that you will get hurt if you try it.
What is your big picture vision for Obstacle Racing Media?
Keep creating more awesome stuff for people to read, watch, and listen to.
What is your favorite business or productivity tool?
I have been using Timetrade for years to schedule interviews and meetings. I also love Evernote, and the Notes app. Yes, I use both for different reasons, don’t judge!
What is your superpower?
I’m not afraid to make an ass of myself.
You recently returned to Alkaloid after being gone a couple years. What made you come back to the community?
I left when Obstacle Racing Media was in a low point money wise. When business picked back up, I tried a few other coworking places. When I came back to check out Alkaloid again, I was reminded how chill of a place it is. Alkaloid attracts hard working, yet very relaxed people.
What is your favorite amenity at Alkaloid?
Conference rooms I don’t need to pay money or credits to use. And there are showers if I want to come work after a run or between appointments.
What advice would you give someone considering coworking?
Go visit a few places, if the vibe doesn’t feel awesome right away, don’t stay there.
