Eleven years ago, I looked at the map of Atlanta and saw a city defined by its traffic. If you have ever commuted here, you know the story. Measuring distances in “minutes on the Connector” and the daily grind of the highway commute.
I knew there had to be a better way to build a business and a life.
When I started Alkaloid Networks, the location wasn’t an afterthought. It wasn’t just “available real estate.” It was a deeply intentional choice. I chose this spot on the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail for our community because I had a dream that seems simple but was radical for Atlanta at the time (and maybe just a tad bit selfish). I wanted to walk to work.
I wanted a morning that started with fresh air and a stroll along the trail, not a grip on a steering wheel. Eleven years later, that decision remains the #1 thing people want to know about us.
“Are you really right on the trail?”
The answer is yes, and after over a decade here, I can tell you that it changes everything about how you work.
Why “The Beltline Life” is a Business Strategy
People often think a scenic location is just a “perk.” But after years of watching entrepreneurs and remote works grow here, I’ve realized it’s actually a productivity strategy. You might even say, I knew it because I wanted it for myself but the evidence before my very eyes tells the real story.
When you remove the stress of a traditional commute, you show up at your desk with more energy, more clarity, and a better mindset. I also knew that for a coworking community to truly work, the “lifestyle” had to be backed by serious infrastructure.
That’s why I’ve spent the last decade ensuring to offer the things that actually make a professional’s life easier:

- The Atlanta “Unicorn”: Free Parking.
Even though I founded this community so I could walk, I know that members and clients often need to drive (and me on stupid cold and rainy days). Providing free parking right on the Beltline is almost unheard of, but it was a priority for me from Day 1. - Speed That Keeps Pace:
I’ve scaled our tech alongside our community, offering 1G Google Fiber so your work never has to wait on your connection. - True Flexibility:
Whether you need a shared desk, a dedicated spot, or a private office for a growing team, I’ve built a space that adapts to you. Plus, 24/7 access means you work on your schedule, not mine. - No Hidden Fees:
I believe in supporting growth, which is why I offer unlimited, well, everything. It was VERY important to me that members had ONE bill each month. You shouldn’t have to check your watch to see if you are out of conference room hours when you’re closing a big deal.
11 Years of Community
The most rewarding part of being here hasn’t just been my own walk to work. It’s been seeing hundreds of other people make that same intentional choice.
Alkaloid isn’t just a collection of desks; it’s a community of people who decided that “work-life balance” shouldn’t be a myth. We are a neighborhood of innovators and workers who value the energy of the Old Fourth Ward and the connectivity of the Beltline.
Come See What Intentionality Looks Like
If you’re tired of the “home office” walls or the corporate cubicle, I’d love to invite you to try a different way of working.
Take a walk down the Eastside Trail and stop in. I’d love to show you the space our community has built and help you find your new favorite way to start the workday.
