What are you working on right now?

As the Executive Director for the Old Fourth Ward Business Association, I am currently working on the Pledge of Public Safety, an initiative to attempt to curb the violence and public safety concerns of Edgewood Nightlife Economy. It is a student-led project led by powerful interns from Morehouse, Clark Atlanta, Georgia State, Spelman, Emory University, and Columbus State.

What is a common misconception about your work?

That the business association was created for only social parties and happy hours. Since my hire, we have been focused on supporting economic development, increasing workforce development, and providing a high-quality member services while having happy hours, lol.

What is your big picture vision for your business?

I envision the Old Fourth Ward Business Association being the leading support system and resource provider for small and micro businesses in the Old Fourth Ward. Therefore, preserving the soul and essence of the Old Fourth Ward’s small business community.

What is your superpower?

I am a design thinking practitioner and Scrum Master. With those two powers combined, I create tangible solutions that are well planned and easy to execute.

What is your favorite business productivity tool?

I like Monday for increasing productivity.

What book should every entrepreneur read?

Your own book. Every life is unique and different. Sometimes the advice of others can lead you astray, make you pause when you should go, and make second guess the right decisions you have in mind. Write and read your own book!

Why Alkaloid?

Alkaloid is home. I’m here because it is a comfortable place in a comfortable environment. Let it sink in!

If you were working from Alkaloid during the pandemic, how were you using the space?

We used the space to host hybrid board meetings and for interns to meet and work on their projects.

What advice would you give someone considering coworking?

Consider Alkaloid as your place. You will be taken care of.

Alkaloid has been a great place to connect with other business owners in the area. It is a special place that is very inviting and warm!
